Looking for a picture of the spare tire mounting bracket. My bracket is missing on the 49 Wayfarer. All that is on the trunk floor is a 3/8 stud that the bracket would bolt on to. I have the long rod with the rolled eye on one end that goes from the bracket thru the wheel. I suspect that Dodge Coronet is the same. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks but I don't think that will fit in the trunk of my Wayfarer, that looks like it a spare  mount for a truck.

Still, you COULD bolt it to a fender, and free up room in your trunk.

Or find another, and bolt one to each front fender like a 30's classic,or to each door like a military truck.

Trunk lid as a farm boy Continental Kit? Come to think of it,I'm a little surprised nobody has ever found one with this "option".

If it is the piece of metal that bridges the center hole of the  wheel  and is held in place by a wing nut  I may be able to help.

Pictures are beyond my computer ability.  Send me a PM if this is what you need.

I have the large wing nut, center plate for the  wheel that has the oblong slot in it and the threaded rod. What is missing is the bracket the threaded rod is hinged on. The threaded stud is mounted in the floor of the trunk behind the spare that the bracket would attach to.

Parts list manual shows it listed as Spare  Wheel Anchor but no picture provided.

Might also be called Spare  wheel mounting bracket after further reading in parts manual

The Plymouth bodies I have here have this anchor mounted well over to the r h s, as the spare tire stands almost vertically in a well.

Should be an easy item to fabricate if you can get a picture.  Good luck.

Sounds like the same location that it would be on my Dodge, yes if anyone has a picture of the bracket that would be great.

Dave,it just occured to me the spare tire bracket is probably still mounted in the trunk of my 56 DeSoto parts car. I suspect they are pretty much the same as the original one in your 51 Dodge. Let me know if you need a photo.

Sure , that would be great. If I see what it looks like I could try making something or know what I'm looking for.

Thanks

Too cold here for a geezer like me to be fooling around out in the yard tomorrow, but I should be able to do that on Tues or Wednesday. I can also take photos of the brackets in a P-15 and post them for you. If you don't see them Tues or Wednesday, hit me up with a PM.

These are in a 50 Plymouth.

I looked at a 49 several years ago and the only difference I saw that it had 3 through bolts that connected it to the body.

I hope that what you are looking for? ;)

Thank you, that is exactly the bracket I need. If I can't find one I'll make something to get me by.

Thanks again Dave
