Mike36 Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 Would like to know if overdrive unit from 37 Chrysler can be installed on the transmission from a 39 Dodge D11. Do not want to change entire transmission because I want to retain the column shift in the D11. Thanks for any help. Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 1937 Chryslers are top loaders. Doubt it about swapping the OD onto the back of your Dodge. Quote
plyroadking Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 From what I've found the 39 column shift transmissions are just the previous 3-4? Year's floor shift transmissions with a different top cover to convert them to column shift. You will have to swap out the transmission in your car and then transfer the top plate from yours to the od transmission. Also your parking brake cable might not be long enough and your driveshaft may need to be shortened. Quote
plyroadking Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 That is providing your 39 has the single rod and cable shifting actuators, if you have the 2 rods you need the later R7 or and R10 overdrive equipped transmission. Quote
