59bisquik
Pondering a small hemi upgrade in the future but want to keep the 3 on the column and R10 overdrive unit. Is the 241/270 bellhousing the same as the 218/230? What are the options here? So far I have only run across the v8's with automatics attached. 59bisquik
Nope, the hemi and flathead have different bell housings. The hemi did come with a standard tranny, but I haven't seen one yet...
wayfarer
As noted, the bolt patterns are different although there are a couple of common bolts... The EarlyHemi bolt pattern is the same as all of the Poly engines including the A engines pre-62. In addition, there is an oem bell that has both the L6 and V8 block patterns but the trans bolt pattern will likely differ from yours due to model year changes.
Plymouthy Adams
this info is straight out of the Mopar Performance engine book..while the early A and early hemi bellhousing pattern is the same bolt wise...the torque convertor/flywheel will not be in the correct position...a unique spacer will be needed...do source this spacer if your intentions to comingle these are in your plans...more than not a note to wayfarer can get you the spacer....
