normanpitkin Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 I wonder if anyone has a 1941 Chrysler Windsor or Dodge convertible ? I need to measure or have good photos of the straight bar that runs from the worm on the motor either side to connect to the top frame mechanism.Seems its quite a basic part but none of the exploded diagrams is precise enough for me to fabricate the two parts needed.Am in London ,UK so the chance of finding one here to go and measure is slim! dpollo Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 On some later models, these links are flexible cables rather like a speedometer cable but much heavier. On my 51, I discarded the screw jack lifts in favour of hydraulic cylinders and a "modern" pump which, although it is a 12 volt unit works just fine on six volts . Synchronization of the lifts is no longer a problem. Good luck. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) There are two Rt/Left gearbox/motor driven screw jacks on 1941-48 Chryslers / Dodge and DeSoto.. Pictures posted. As for the top screw drive to top linkage link... I think 1941-42 are different than 1946-48 cars. Shown is the 1942 DeSoto convertible top linkage which now has been sold so no measurements are available off of it. I could look at a 1948 Chrysler top mechanism but I think the linkage is slightly different. 1946-8 don't use an assist spring. Edited May 15, 2016 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
