Jeff Balazs Posted May 7, 2016 Report Posted May 7, 2016 Hi All; I am looking for quality replacement boots for the tie rod and drag link on my truck. I put new tie rods on with new rubber boots on during my build and two of these have already split. I would like to refit with a better grade boot perhaps polyurethane?. Not sure how to go about getting the correct size boot for this application. Any suggestions. Thanks, Jeff Quote
John-T-53 Posted May 7, 2016 Report Posted May 7, 2016 Jeqs seems to have a good selection of these, and they list dimensions on this page: http://www.jegs.com/p/Energy-Suspension/Energy-Suspension-Tie-Rod-Boots-Ball-Joint-Boots/743964/10002/-1 I put some similar boots on my Chevy, and the cup was too deep that it hit the rod part, so I simply tripped a half circle out of the boot so it fit snug. A while ago I tried just looking for boots at Nappa and a few other stores, and you can't buy 'em separate from the suspension part. Just as you can no longer buy shock absorber washers. 1 Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted May 7, 2016 Author Report Posted May 7, 2016 Thanks John; That is a good starting place. The sites I was looking at had applications but no dimensions. Hopefully there are some there that will fit the old truck. The rubber ones I got from Roberts (I think) are rubbish. Wise Way Tu & Company should never be allowed to make rubber parts........ Desotodav Posted May 7, 2016 Report Posted May 7, 2016 Jeff, I bought mine from Bernbaum's and they are not split yet. Quote
