Hello all,

re: my 47 Dodge Club Coupe.  The attached photos are of my brake drums, front and rear.

Close up, side  view of the " flange " on top of each.

Question, are these separate flanges, or part of the drum ( cast or welded ) ?

Reason being I have an opportunity for a pair of NOS that look like the attached Illustration.  No Flange.

Can I remove my flange and install it on this type of drum ?

The flange you speak of is the hub that goes onto the axle shaft. You will need to press out your studs and then the hub will separate from the drum. Then set your hub into the new drum and press the studs back in.

I think the other question that clay is also asking, Is that on his drum the flange seems to be welded to the outside of the brake drum. Clay are you also questioning if this is correct?  I would assume that the metal flange would be on the inside of the  drum but I am not an expert on your specific year.  If it was a 39 Desoto then the flange is on the inside.

Thanks guys, Rich not sure if welded.

I'll attempt to press out the lug studs as Merle mentioned.

If so I may have a great deal on two nis drums.

I will report back.

Thanks!
