Two questions, not over the limit I hope,,:)

1. Anybody know of someone who restores the two name tags in the engine compartment? I know one has the serial number so it may be kind of tuff.

2. I read awhile back about someone recommending 30w oil in gear boxes because of the different shape gears compared to the rear end. Does anything have to be done to the tranny to make that change?

Thanks in advance.

Various vendors sell the red 'Plymouth' tag as a repro. The other is the body number tag that is held on with two Phillips screws. Don't think anyone repops them. Is yours missing?

I use the same product in the trans and rear end....80W90 gear oil if I remember correctly.

JD.....perhaps an artist/sign painter type person could re-do the red tag.

They do not have any numbers on them specific to the car, so far as I know. Here is mine.

They have been reproduced.

This tag, assuming it is what you speak of, is a Briggs body number and was always painted to match the firewall.

There is, of course, this lovely i d tag on the left door jamb. The black portion of the paint has worn off.

Bob My serial # plate is almost as bad as yours. Is there much to be done about that? I've seen repro ones for 39-47 dodge trucks but not for a p15 yet.

This is what I have reproduced so far. The two different firewall tags - single line border for P17/18 and later, double line border for the P15 and earlier, heater, generator and starter.

They are made using the metalphoto process where the red dye is impregnated in the pores of the aluminum and then hard anodized so that the image can't be removed.

They are $20.00 each.

3 or more $15.00 each.
