dale Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 I have a 350 with an automatic trns in my 46 Ply and would like to know what later model rear ends will fit and be best for this without doing fabrication. Id like to have a parking brake again and not so sure if the original will holdup. Quote
martybose Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 If you really mean no fabrication, the simple answer is no rearend has a 1-1/2" perch in the correct location, let alone could be directly connected to an original driveshaft. There are a number of rearends listed in the famous Don Coatney rearend list that are aprroximately the correct flange-to-flange width, but they will require new spring perches and driveshaft modifications. ACJCF2 Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Dale, please use the search function on you subject, it's invaluable. Lots of good information. Jim. Quote
dale Posted October 27, 2015 Author Report Posted October 27, 2015 Didnt mean no driveshaft fab. We used to blow out heavy dute clutches back when in the 47 plymouth we had with the big chrysler six but never a rear end. Maybe the automatic wont be too hard on it. Dont want to get into cutting and welding so Ill keep it the way it is..THX Quote
48ply1stcar Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 Search - Dakota rear end swaps, early 90's Dakota rears seemed to be the way to go. 1 Quote
