wings515 Posted October 25, 2015 Report Posted October 25, 2015 I have a 39 Plymouth PT81 Pickup. I visited the Hemmings facility in Bennington and noticed the two Dodge trucks had the drive shaft and universals were changed to the more modern type. The original universals have some unbalance that I am unable to remove. I am in need of some advice pertaining to the replacement of the pinion shaft attachment for the joint and also the transmission end. Also I will probably have to change the drive shaft since the mating will be different. I am hoping something like a 47 Dodge Pickup will be the replacement parts I need. If they are, then trying to find all these will be my next task. Thanks in advance. Quote

Young Ed Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Are you sure they were changed? Some of the dodge trucks have a different style ujoint. It looks more like a modern one but its certainly not readily available. My 46 has them. Quote

wings515 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Report Posted October 26, 2015 Thank you so much Dodgeb4ya, the link is exactly what I was looking for. Also thank you all other respondents for the information they provided. Now all I have to do is gather my pennies together before I make the investment. I have to choose this upgrade vs. a complete re-build of the steering box. They both cost about the same. Thanks again, wings515 Quote
