Mattias78 Posted September 22, 2015 Report Posted September 22, 2015 Hi! Have my car at a local shop to help me to change the pinion seal! I bought a new seal from Andy B But now the guys att the shop can get the damm thing to seal properly! The axel i in god condition! And the seal is tight on the axel! But it still leaks!?! Any ideas!? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 22, 2015 Report Posted September 22, 2015 Use a modern correct seal # part and a speedi sleeve. The correct seal# and info was just on here. Search Pinion seal replacement or similar. Quote
ptwothree Posted September 22, 2015 Report Posted September 22, 2015 What does the axle have to do with the pinion seal? 1 Quote
Tom Skinner Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Yolk usually has a small groove in it and requires a sleeve to maintain a good seal. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 What does the axle have to do with the pinion seal?I think he means the the new pinion yoke seal still leaks. Not the axle shaft inner or outer seals. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Yes, of course. I should have said because the Yolk has worn down - with a potential groove in it. Then a new pinion seal will not suffice. The tiny groove is where it is leaking. He will need to install a sleeve on the yolk to return the diameter of the yolk to original condition, thus the seal will function again. Quote
Mattias78 Posted September 23, 2015 Author Report Posted September 23, 2015 Thanks! Will talk to the shop an see what the can do! /mattias Quote
