Hey Braintrust, just about finished with a total rewire and brake update. really would like to get away from the foot start and go to a solenoid driven starter. Can't for the life of me locate a part number of a starter that will work with my 218. I know its fairly common. 6v is fine, just need to know what will work.

OR

is there a part number for a centrifugal bendix to convert my foot starter?

I have been reading old post's for three days, if this has been answered before I apologize in advance

Starters by themselves interchange as a unit. You can use a later truck or pass car wiring layout for the solenoid.

Sorry, but I don't have a truck parts manual to look up numbers...

I put in a car starter, works great. I googled solenoid starter wiring diagram and printed out one. Works great! I have 12 volt, but 6 volt starter. Just tune the engine for a quick start, Bob's your uncle!!
