  1. you know what they say, if it seems like too good of a deal... autozone crapped the bed, wasn't even close to the correct starter
  2. By the way, I'm installing in on my B1C with a 218. I have been told its the same. update in a couple of days
  3. after digging through what must be 100 links and leads, it looks like the correct starter for a 9 tooth,12v for a L6 230 is a MDG 6001, Prestolite #3410. pops up on amazon as a Gladiator 3410 at 319.00. Autozone just quoted 219.00
  4. Hey Braintrust, just about finished with a total rewire and brake update. really would like to get away from the foot start and go to a solenoid driven starter. Can't for the life of me locate a part number of a starter that will work with my 218. I know its fairly common. 6v is fine, just need to know what will work. OR is there a part number for a centrifugal bendix to convert my foot starter? I have been reading old post's for three days, if this has been answered before I apologize in advance smokin joe
  5. any chance you have the part number for the starter?
  6. I need a complete oil filter assy. for some reason, my B-1-C six cylinder doesn't have one. I see where someone plugged off the in/out ports on the block. anybody got one they can part with? Thanks in advance, Joe
  7. if you look at roberts its part #t110 AND t44. I looked at my old ones today. the sleeve that comes mounted on the shackle HAS to come in from the back side of the hanger. the new ones that I got don't thread together very well, might need to massage them to make them work
  8. its a great resource but no info on the springs posted yet
  9. anybody got a schematic/diagram on the "C" shaped spring shackle on the rear of '48 truck?
  10. Here's a picture of the truck. once I got it running, i've used it to move things around on the farm just like it used to. starting at the back end this winter and working thru the mechanical's till it's road worthy. I think I'll just rebuild the flat bed, wash it good and drive it.
  11. the bed thats on it now is a rebuilt bed and no where near a factory bed. it worked for what it was doing, that is being a farm truck. I'm just thinking about a more presentable bed for down the road. I see that I can get everything to rebuild it. any clue on what the wood bed was treated with? was it just paint or were they oiled?
  12. I can grind them to shape with no issue and maintain the strength. the bolts I have in mind have a huge one piece washer and hex head combined. should wind up looking just like a rivet.
  13. I'll take a set. also the speedo as well. what do you need from me? i've got a 48 b-1-c
  14. So, got the parts but the question is what to replace the rivets with. very tempted to take G8 washer head hex bolt and "shape" it to look like a rivet and bolt them back in. no real way for me to use rivets.
