Don Jordan Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 You'd think for as long as I've had my Plymouth I would figure this out but I'm still confused. I was going to change my electric fuel pump. I read the instructions (unusual for me) which said "connect ground wire (-) to a suitable ground." But I was looking at the pump I took off and I had the positive (+) hooked to ground. It had worked for a long time. If I hooked it up backwards would the pump run backwards? Does it make a difference which way it's hooked up? I'm going to put the pump in now and wire it once I get an answer. thanks guys. Quote
Ulu Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 If it's a positive ground car, hook the + terminal of the pump to the ground. It may well run just fine wired "backwards", but why confuse the issue? Positive ground cars confuse enough folks already. Quote
desoto1939 Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Yes the Positive wire needs to be going to ground. I also have the Electric pump and it has to be this way to make it work. Positive wire to the ground Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote
