Sambo21& Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 My 49 was running a friend of mine replaced plug wires and when he did he removed the coil and did not mark the wires, when trying to start it smoke started coming out of the dist, figured he had wires crossed, since then new plugs, points, cond, cap, rotor, coil, and now it just won't start is there something in the dist that I am missing, I have the pos side of the coil terminal going to the dist and the neg side going to the ign switch, the other two wires that went to coil not sure any help appreciated out of ideas here 1 Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 Where there is smoke there is damage done. Did you look for the damage? Wrong firing order will not cause smoke or damage. If the smoke came from inside your distributor that is where I would look first. 1 Quote

Sambo21& Posted May 30, 2015 Author Report Posted May 30, 2015 We looked inside dist seen nothing wrong or burn't inside dist replaced the one wire , checked firing order, is there anything inside the dist i should pay special attention to other than just the wires is see with the cap off, I will also get the numbers and make sure we have the correct points etc thanks Quote
