Buick john Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Does anyone know how far the mixture screw needs to be in or out mine is 3 turns out & plugs are still white so does it work in opposit direction inwards to get beige plugs ? Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Mixture screw normally is open about 1.5 turns. Has little to nothing to do with plug colorization as this screw adjusts the idle fuel/air ratio only and has no function once the engine is above the idle speed. 1 Quote
Reg Evans Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Yup, 1 to 1.5 turns out seems to be the sweet spot. Quote

busycoupe Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 A vacuum leak will cause a lean mixture and white plugs. Check for a vacuum leak at the base of the carb, and under the dash where the wipers connect to the vacuum tube. Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 A vacuum gauge will help when adjusting that screw . Quote
