me52dph Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Anyone know where I can find an original or anything else that will fit. My son drained the old gas and when tightening the plug snapped the head off. Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 That would be a common hardware store pipe plug . Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 Is this style 1949-52 all MoPar cars....? Quote
me52dph Posted January 11, 2015 Author Report Posted January 11, 2015 Pretty sure is not a common pipe thread. Best I can tell its 7/8-20. I've checked all hardware stores in the area with no luck. Quote
John-T-53 Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Interesting if not pipe thread (and tapered). It should be though, that's what would actually seal in an application like this. Straight threads would leak unless it has a head and a washer like a brake hose or oil pan plug. A machine shop or engine parts supply might be a source. Also, try McMaster-Carr... Good luck! Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 My B3 1 ton truck uses that car plug as does my 52 B3JA truck. Quote
me52dph Posted January 14, 2015 Author Report Posted January 14, 2015 I've searched everywhere I can think of. Fastenal said it is indeed 7/8-20 thread. For now I'm using a rubber plug. Quote
