Standing Elk Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 It has been in the single digits and teens here for the last couple weeks. I needed to move my 48 out of the shop to do some other work. It is still 6V and had not been started in awhile. I was not sure how much luck I was going to have getting it started. I pulled the choke out about a fingers width, pumped the gas peddle three times and hit the starter. She turned over about three times and was running. I gave her a little pat on the dash in appreciation. Nothing like having everything just right. 2 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 not for me..I don't want to live where it is too cold for the fuel not to be able to evaporate...mine starts much easier with the Optima battery over that of a wet cell...has a lot to do with reserve cranking current for the ignition...a older 6 volt that is somewhat minimal due to age while run daily is not a problem..but let it sit, evaporate the fule..it can get iffy on a older battery..the Optima is great..but UGLY..finding a 6 volt gorupe 2 in my area is so far unobtainable. Geekay Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Excellent! Hoping one day that I will enjoy that experience too. Perhaps you should move down under. Our first few days of summer have yielded 100 degrees F (34 degrees c). Quote

Todd B Posted December 7, 2014 Report Posted December 7, 2014 I also have always been amazed how these old trucks pop off after stting and in cold weather. I believe in giving her a love tap too, I inherited my dads john deere B and when it won't fire I say "come on Johny you are embarrissing my" and he pops immediately. My 10 year old Grandaughter talks to Johny (Come on Johny) everytime we pull a load of water up my hill and I keep the idle low so he lugs down hard. If you treat your family, animals and equipment as you want to be treated they seem to want to stick around. 1 Quote

Flog the dog snot out of them...no one likes a slacker......that is why you bought the Dodge to begin with...its in not in the same class as those sissified trucks wearing a poodle skirt... but Yeah..take care of them at the same time...if I did not have all to do at all the time for most the family...I would begin to think they have found a retirement home for me already..
