Niel Hoback Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 I haven't seen one of those since the late 50's! They don't last long around here in the rust belt. But, north of you, on AK 1 in Palmer, is a junk yard called "Boot Hill". He has two 1958 Packardbaker wagons in there and a row of 6 or 8 DeSotos with hemis. At least he did the last time I was there. It would make a nice weekend jaunt for you and don't forget your camera. Quote
BigDaddyO Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 My daughter works in Palmer. I should ask her to stop by that junk yard. (with her camera) Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 a very rare wagon..one that anyone could be proud to own....wagons are in a class by themselves..mostly under appreciated.. Quote
casper50 Posted November 26, 2014 Author Report Posted November 26, 2014 My favorite wagon is the Pontiac Safari. Basically a Pontiac nomad. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Those Safari's (at least the 57s) have gotten to be maybe a bit high dollar nowadays. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 The asking price of that Stude wagon, $500, seems very reasonable. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Yeah, its cheap, but the shipping will kill you! Quote
casper50 Posted November 27, 2014 Author Report Posted November 27, 2014 I got my 47 coupe up here from Michigan and I live 150 miles further than Palmer for $1500. Quote
mattimuss Posted November 28, 2014 Report Posted November 28, 2014 Saw a totally restored one this past February at the San Diego Big3 Swap Meet. Very nice wagon! I agree with P. Adams, wagons are not appreciated enough. A friend of mine is restoring a '64 Valiant wagon and it's cool! She [yes, a female] is doing a resto-mod and doing all the work herself. I'll post pictures when it's done. Quote
