Uncle-Pekka Posted April 5, 2015 Author Report Posted April 5, 2015 As I've been told this car was 1954 New yorker and it was parted out already in mid sixties. How such low ratio rear end could have been in it? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 am thinking that is the highest ratio available...and per my inter-sub book it was not listed in the Chrylser line up of cars but only on the Desoto V8 for 53-54..please read again...per my inter-sub book... Quote
DJ194950 Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 My Hollander interchange book 1946-1956- shows a 3.36 rear ratio avail. on 1953-1954 Chrysler 8 cyl. C-56 and C-63, Desoto 8 cyl. S-16 and S-19. Found no other Mopars using This rear end and ratio. Maybe on later models with a new style rear end. Other ratios avail. on these cars were 3.53 and 3.73. Agree with Tim, unusual ratio. But was there. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 6, 2015 Report Posted April 6, 2015 DJ..I honestly felt that if available on the Desoto would also be fitted on the Chrysler....just had nothing in writing for confirmation.....thanks for filling in the blank... Quote
DJ194950 Posted April 6, 2015 Report Posted April 6, 2015 Just trying to share what the book shows- as the title of my forum below my sign on name says "too much time on my hands." Share info is the #1 point on the forum- i believe -and do enjoy/learn from the forum. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted April 7, 2015 Author Report Posted April 7, 2015 Thanks DJ, Tim, Surprising to find such long ratio from our back yard. Now I have to do some thinking do I want to put this animal in my D24... I would get 67 mph at 2000rpm with the OD... Not much acceleration though... On the other hand it makes me sad to think of the car that was parted out in the 60's: 331 hemi and this 3,36 rear end, it was a fast one. And only 10yrs old when parted. Quote
