I'm looking for a horn ring for my 49 Special Deluxe and I notice on ebay that two different kinds are available. There is one that is a full circle and one that is a half circle. The original on my car was missing when I got it, so I don't know which one it had. I know it's an obscure question, but I'm hoping someone out there might know which is correct.

As with my 48 I believe the half circle ones have been remodeled via road rage.

Joe ... if you don't get one before I get back to my "stash" .... I have one.      And it's the "full" version !!    :D

Seriously? A field modification? No such thing as an original half-horn ring?

Thanks, John. I'll let you know if I find one or not.

Joe I wouldn't consider myself an expert on 49s but p15s and 51-52s have a plain horn button on the cheapy models and a full circle ring on the higher end ones. For p15s I've seen a few where someone did a good job removing the top 1/2 but you could stilll tell it was done.

My looking at parts books for 49 says the same as YoungEd, no ring at all on deluxe (button only) and a full ring for special deluxe = steer wheel and all horn parts are diff. between the models. The top inside edge of your wheel should have have 8 holes (per bad pic.) and a deluxe about four. Rest of steer wheel appears the same per same lousy pic.!

Happy hunting, good luck.
