what spark plugs do you use?

I think mine might be too cold, as they get black soot after 500 miles, just wondering what everyone else is using?

Most flat head 6 guys are recommending AC 45's

if you can get 46's they are a bit hotter and may help with your sooting. Also you might want to check some other things as well. Timing, airflow into the carb, and that your choke is fully open.

When you are referrinng to an AC 45 do you mean a R45TS plug or is there a different number?

The R means resistor type for vehicles with radios. Not sure what the TS means. Maybe someone at the auto parts counter can tell you.

TS is for tapered seat - not likely to fit the flat heads (unless the head was modified). Most of the newer vehicles have the tapered seats (73? and newer).
