rfcr Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Greetings all, I'm having trouble remounting the brake light switch back on. I have replaced all the lines but the switch will not stay in the slot. Anyone now how to solve my problem? Quote
greg g Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 my switch screws into a fitting shared by brake lies for front brakes. What slot are you referring to?? Quote
Mark D Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 I just replaced mine yesterday. As you can see it needs to be done. There was very little of the second conductor left. Happy to report right brake lights now! Quote
rfcr Posted July 6, 2014 Author Report Posted July 6, 2014 Gregg G. I have a 1946 P-15 Deluxe. The brake light switch has 3 brake lines attached, one from the master and two to the right and left front brakes. The whole assembly has a slot that appears to fit into a bracket bolted to the frame, the slot in the bracket (i think) holds the switch. I don't know if this is correct or the previous owners mod. rfcr Posted July 6, 2014 Author Report Posted July 6, 2014 I think I need to take a close look at mine. I don't know if I can separate the switch from where the brake lines attach. This still does not answer the question of how does it stay secured to the frame. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 The switch screws into the junction block that has come separated from the bracket on the frame. I think the bracket has a bolt holding it to the frame that you can remove. Put a big crescent wrench on the block and unscrew the switch. Replace the switch and see how the junction block is attaché dto the bracket. I believe it has an ear-like projection that is swaged onto the bracket. Worst case scenario, use a wire tie or two. Solution rfcr Posted July 6, 2014 Author Solution Report Posted July 6, 2014 Bingo, I think Niel Hoback has answered my question. I'll be sure tomorrow, thanks to everyone. Quote
