garys_bc Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 My 47 Dodge has a heater, but the knob labeled heater won't move. Any suggestions. Quote
greg g Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Usually the knob is attached to a cable, the cable goes through the firewall to a valve mounted on the right rear corner of the cylinder head or in some cases on some plumbing contected to it. More than likely this valve is stuck. The cable is secured to a lever by a set screw. You chould be able to loosent he screw and remove the cable from the lever. then you should be able to move the knob. If the cable is frozen, get some penetrating oil on it. Acouple applications to the spiral exterior will help free it up. also get some on the portion between the dash and forewall, but take care not so stain you interior with the lubricant. On the valve, a few applications of penetrating oil may free it up. You can also remove the valve from the head or the plumbing and give it a three or four day soak in vineagar to remove the rust and any sacle build up inside and out. Quote
