kenaroo2002 Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 the stop on the dip stick for my 49 B1C is loose. I am in need of a measurement from the end of the dip stick that goes into the dip stick tube to the top of the stop so I can put it in correct possision and tack weld it. Will be very appreciative of any help. Quote

wdoland Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 If you get a longer dipstick, you can save a lot of money on oil. Quote
kenaroo2002 Posted April 22, 2014 Author Report Posted April 22, 2014 thanks for pointing out to me that all dip sticks are not alike. My dip stick is like the lower one in the photograph. it measures 151/4 inches from tip to where the stop is on the one in the photo. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 kenaroo2002,I am needing the same answer. My B3-B dipstick is longer model(IND 251 engine),but it is broken.Appears written in it "4 qts imperial".My mechanic first put 4 quarts imperial(4,32 liters) and did a mark in it. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 Not all dipsticks are created equal. Can you send me another closer pic showing "FULL", "ADD OIL" with the measurements. My dipstick is the longer model. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 I no longer have the short dipstick so no photo available. Quote
MBF Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 Doesn't that mean that all engines that have the dipstick tube use the longer one, and the shorter one is for the blocks w/o the tube where the dipstick goes right into the block? Quote

MBF Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 The long one looks like the one in the 230 in my 1 ton, the short one like the one in the 218 in my 36 Plymouth. The 36 doesn't have a tube-the dipstick goes right into the block behind the distributor near the bottom of the block. Mike Quote
