maurice wade Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Does anyone know if a radial tire can be run on stock p-15 rims. I thought I would run radial tires for a better ride and maybe better steering. on my 47. Has anyone ran radials on their car? Where is a good source for tire purchace? Thanks for any help. M Wade If the rims are in very good condition on the inside and out, then you should be fine. You may have to run a radial tube as the hot rivets can leak air. James Quote
james curl Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I am running rfadials on my stock rims with no problems. Quote
Dennis_MN Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I'm running 215/85/16 on my Pilothouse. There were two warnings about the stock rims. 1. Use a two piece metal valve core for a better seal and 2. The stock rim is narrow compared to modern rims and the smaller size tire which is more equivalent to 600 16 didn't have enough sidewall for the narrow rim. The tire guy was worried that I could go around a corner and the tire would roll off the rim. The larger size solved that potential problem. Dennis Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I'm running 205/75R15's on my stock 48 Pi5 rims with no problem. I have had them on for over 6 years. Dennis:cool: Quote
steveplym Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I'm doing the same. Sure is a lot better ride without those bias ply tires. Quote
kevinanderson Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I'm running 235's. with new stabilizer bushings and shocks, it rides and drives like a dream. I'm using metal valve stems too. Quote
