50plywood Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 I just had my transmission with overdrive redone by George Asche for my 50 Plymouth. I now want to change my car to12V negative ground. I think I have everything figured out except for the OD. Does anyone have any advice on what I need to do for it? I just don't want to mess it up. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 actually there are a couple schools of thought here...and a couple ways to get it electrically/current balanced...BUT your prime concern here is what will George back up for use as certain as taxes if there should be a fault he will be called upon to make it good. I highly recommend you sound this out with him personally. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 I agree with Plymouthy, Call George Asche and get his recommendation Quote
50plywood Posted March 26, 2014 Author Report Posted March 26, 2014 Sounds good. I have had it back from him for about a year and am just getting my car back together. I'll give him a call. Quote
martybose Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 There are a lot of us who are running R10's on 12V cars with no changes to the transmission components. It's a good idea to go 12V on the relays; I actually did my own electrical package using 12V stuff sourced from McMaster-Carr. Marty Quote
50plywood Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 I talked to George and that's what he said also. He said I just need to change the relay and suggested a starter relay for a 70's Plymouth. I appreciate the help. Quote
1941Rick Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Been running mine on 12 volts for 4 years ....no issues......I used a Bosch 30 amp relay.....available everywhere..... Quote
