ggdad1951
I'm tearing into the FEF Caboose project and am wondering if there is a difference in the back ends of the high side boxes between the truck sizes. The sides on the trailer have been (what looks like) pounded flat and I think they should have the detent in them that carries through from the stamping. Anyone have any pictures they could share with the tailgate down of the rear edge of the bed side? The stake pockets are also pretty trashed and I was wondering if anyone used the Horkey pockets? Are the Horkey pockets dimpled in to go into the stamped detents like the originals? Cause they are NOT cheap!
B1B Keven
Let me know if you need a different angle.
ggdad1951
nope that works. Exactly as I thought. Now do the Horkey pockets come flat or do they have the dip in them for the detents?
Solution B1B Keven Posted January 23, 2014 Solution Report Share Posted January 23, 2014 They have the dip in them. Use 'ctrl' and '+' to enlarge the picture http://www.horkeyswoodandparts.com/page36.php#extension
ggdad1951
thanks Keven! Last night I spent 4 hours taking off the old stake pockets and bed angle on one side, tonight one hour on the other side on the bed angle....love a good spot weld cutter! Now I have to make a die set to reset the detents at the tailgate area.
Dave72dt
Hammer and dollies work too. You may be over-engineering the solution, lol
