Niel Hoback Posted December 24, 2013 Report Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) For all you British car owners; http://www3.telus.net/bc_triumph_registry/smoke.htm Edited December 24, 2013 by Niel Hoback Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 24, 2013 Report Posted December 24, 2013 having owned British cars in the past...and some 13 in the stable at the moment..I can honestly say I have never seen a smoked harness...contrary to popular belief..all their problems are mainly poor accomplished grounds due to the type of clips they use in daisy chaining across wooded dashes. rubber mounted pads separating light bezels from the body etc...and poor body clips screwed to the body..no ground lug style terminals like used by most other folks...you have to have continuity in order to cause smoked wiring....lol Quote
Niel Hoback Posted December 24, 2013 Author Report Posted December 24, 2013 I can't believe no one saw the humor in that. Did you get as far as the guy that wanted to buy NOS bottom air for his tires because that's the only air that leaked out, since the top air was still there? Or the aftermarket smoke that's too lumpy? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) Neil..if it is a Lucas joke/slam..I have seen it all...if this was not so much written as a true English perspective..it could have been funny...they have a dry wit...(over smoked I think) funny was Brandywine sending out official memo to rotate the air in the vehicle tires at the motor pool...but you need to read the book...Brandywine's War Edited December 25, 2013 by Plymouthy Adams Quote
Niel Hoback Posted December 25, 2013 Author Report Posted December 25, 2013 Aye, it's all in the perspective. Playing with two Jaguars has given me quite a perspective on Lucas. Quote
Desotodav Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 Aye, it's all in the perspective. Playing with two Jaguars has given me quite a perspective on Lucas. It's funny Niel, as I was thinking of the trouble that a mate of mine has recently had with his Type 1 Jag electrics when I first read your post. He would be comforted by the fact of knowing that he is not alone! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 I will not now or ever say Lucas was not plagued...but "letting smoke out" is not an issue I have ever confronted in Lucas... grounds and bad switches...that's the issues I've experienced Quote
