jim6346 Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Hello everyone, I started this in another topic, but wanted to give it more detail. Last thing, then I can deliver the car!! I am working on a 1948 Plymouth Deluxe. I did a 12V conversion. I have a 6V convertor that I wired into the Clock, Gas Gauge, and Radio. Everything seems to be working great except the gas gauge. I have approximately 6 gallons in the tank (which has a new sending unit). When I start the car, it goes to about 1/2 tank, then drops and goes back up continually. All while the car is standing still. I tried several different grounds on the sending unit, still does the same. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Jim Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 ring your wiring for correct against your schematic in your service manual Quote
Tom Skinner Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Jim, As Plymouth Adams has said : Check your Manual (Service). The 6 Gallons is about 1/3 a tank (If you have a 17 Gallon Tank). Check for good Grounds on wiring first. Clip Jumper Wires to establish good wiring. Sometimes the Gauge can be Calibrated (If thats the problem) Sometimes the sending unit Cork is fubar. Good Luck!
