clinto69 Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Good day I recently dargged a 48 fargo out of our back field which I plan on restoring. Little confused,I started researching the truck and the plate on the truck says its a fm-2. but doing research a fm-2 is a cabover and this truck clearly is not. It has a wheelbase of a f series fargo and what looks to be a normal cab, so is this truck some frankenstein model or is this normal. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b604/clinto691/036_zps7dc0cfd2.jpg http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b604/clinto691/035_zpsc40dd15e.jpg http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b604/clinto691/033_zps5ae773aa.jpg http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b604/clinto691/032_zpsef722f46.jpg Quote
P15-D24 Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Looks like a 1 ton to me. Six bolt lugs on the wheels? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Nice find. FM-2 is a '48 or '49 1 Ton truck. See http://www.t137.com/registry/help/partspages/SerialNumberGuide1920-57/slide024.html Quote
41/53dodges Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Love it! It's definately a 1 ton, large 6 bolt pattern gives it away. It sounds to me like that is the correct model for a 1 ton fargo, but to answer your question it can be common to find a frankenstein. A friend of mine has alot of old trucks from a cranberry bog shut down in the 70's, most of their trucks were frankensteined together with whatever they could to get by! whether it be an axle, engine, or just slap the body on another chassis, if it had to be done it was. -Josh Quote
