Hi Rodney.......up early today, I see.

Don't have the answer to your question......just wanted to say "hi".

(I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep---yet).

Rodney,

Since the vacuum is created in the intake manifold it makes sense that it would be the prime port for it, but that's not to say somewhere else might not work as well.  The only reason to avoid the carb would be the off chance that the tranny might be in some form of competition with it for available vacuum.  Heck, you could try them both and see for yourself if it really matters then share your findings so we'd all know.

is this for the downshift module?  If so my guess would be manifold vacuum would be the correct port as you want it closed during highvacuum and open when vacuum drops to aquire or hold a downshift when under load or accelerating.

Hi all, I am wondering what is the best vacuum port for a automatic trans. The trans in question is a turbo 350. Is the manifold itself best or the back of the carb?

Direct manifold vac. source is stock. Factory manifolds have a threaded port behind the carb, sometimes with a multiple outlet vac. fitting for various engine and accessories for vac. source. Most after market manifolds also will have a threaded port there also.

Best to ya,

Doug
