Scruffy49 Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 Looks like I will be hosting a Motorcycles and Mopars event at my place September 16-21. I'll have the final dates set in concrete by Friday evening. Open to 4 forums, 2 motorcycle, 2 Mopar. Bring your fishing pole (2 acre stocked pond). Horseshoe pit is in, dock will be repaired later this spring. Have a canoe, a johnboat and a pirogue, no life jackets (well, I do, but they are old). There is a primitive shooting range on site, so, if you shoot, bring your favorite noise maker... This will be during late archery and/or early muzzleloader deer season. Last year the daily bag limit was 3 doe. Small game will also be open. There is a 15-18 acre chunk of native woodland/pecan orchard that usually has deer in it... I will be updating this with more info between now and the event. We're roughly an hour northeast of downtown Memphis TN. Pretty sure one of the motorcycle groups will be planning side trips to the Shiloh and Fort Pillow battlefields, Graceland, Beale Street... Closest accomodations are in Millington and Atoka TN. On site camping is very primitive... Quote
Scruffy49 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Report Posted April 24, 2013 The last 54 acres of a 2500 acre plantation. Pecan and organic produce farm now. Trucks through 1971 (unless you have a Warlock or L'il Red Express). Cars through 72. No dirt bikes or modern sport bikes. Kids welcome, we have a miniature quarter horse that loves kids. Quote
TennesseeVol51 Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) Scruff, I will be there just to look around,I already had vacation scheduled that weekend. Looking forward to seeing the trucks and getting some ideas on the direction of my truck. I take every Friday off during football season. Are you sure you don't want me to bring my KTM 200 for you to ride, you could cut a little 3 mile loop and have a blast!! Just kidding. Thanks for the offer on fishing the lake I will bring my reel. Scruffy49 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Report Posted April 25, 2013 Haven't been on a pure dirt since leave after Navy Builder "A" School in 1995 before reporting to my battalion. Too many thorn trees for it on our TN place, too many restrictions on where/when and how the bike had to be licensed and set up when I was in WA. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 What town are you in or near? How far from Millington? Will this be a week long event? I might be able to make it early in the week. Quote
Scruffy49 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Report Posted April 25, 2013 I'm 13 miles from the Walmart in Millington, 12 or so from the one in Covington. Brighton address, but a lot closer to Rosemark or Atoka. The guys from one of the bike boards want it to run for a week or so, one is coming from North Carolina, another from Los Angeles... Tipton Shelby line east of Highway 14. Quote
greg g Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Oh boy, what is the world coming to when we've gotten to using wal marts for landmarks???? I suppose that they are everywhere and easy to find, but do real men use wal marts???? Just kidding, hop you have a great time. Sounds like you will have a diverse group, but will you have enough first aid???? Quote
Scruffy49 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Report Posted April 26, 2013 First aid? I've got a .22 and a backhoe... I'm medic trained, my game keeper is a former corrections officer/cop, wife is a former vet tech (Bikers have more fun than people do...). Volunteer fire department is 3 miles up the road... Walmart is the easiest reference to look up on google maps or similar... Quote
jamesadams Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I live about 40 miles west of Jonesboro Arkansas, wished i had a pilothouse, would give me an excuse to come. Quote
