Plymouthy Adams Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 I used the search feature at the top of the forum page and it returned all the old post on teh subject.. Quote
40plyrod Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 The T5 out of an S10 is probably what your looking for. Search transmission swap on here and google there is lots of info on them. Paul curtis makes an adapter for the swap, that how I did mine. Good luck Quote
Robert Horne Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 I started a thread, "5 speed not T5", that was about my install of a TK5 Ford Ranger 5 speed, Toyo Kogyo 1983 to 1987. It was an easy install, is working very good with the 3.73 rearend. Quote
LAKOTA169 Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 Paul Curtis (pjplymouth) has an adapter for sale on ebay. Quote
wayfarer Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 ...given the price of adapters (including mine), the Ford Ranger piece should be more popular than it is. Robert did a fine job on detailing his swap; it should be considered. Quote
Robert Horne Posted January 31, 2013 Report Posted January 31, 2013 Thanks Wayfarer. I may add also that the 4 speed TK4 will be good also. The 4th gear is 1 to 1 ratio on the 4 speed, and the 5 speed 4th gear is 1 to 1, and the 5th gear has the overdrive, that I do not recall the ratio.... Another big plus for me, was I got to use my original speedometer. There are several of the Ranger speedometer gear drives that can be changed easily to get the original speedometer more accurate.... Robert Horne Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 I can not find the 5 speed thread I started on here. Here is a couple more photos. No adapters are needed. I used a piece of angle iron for the bottom support. Had the trans from cover milled about 1/16 inch, $20. Plymouth pressure plate, Ranger clutch disc. The trans gear ratios with my 3.73 Ranger rearend, is excellent... Quote
