pflaming Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 I have a complete 89 TBird 5.0 SS parked. How much of the drive train will transfer into a 68/69 Ford Mustang chasis/body? I'm looking for a project in January. I'm finishing up on a '52 Dodge 1/2 T pilot house. PM's are welcome. Quote
james49ply Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 You have the helm on what you do to the car. I have a 65 coupe that I have concidered installing a late modle v6 into. shouldn't be to hard of a project as long as you can weld the supports that you will need for the engine and trans mounts, and the rear may fit also? Have fun with the project, let us know how it comes out. Quote
Adam H P15 D30 Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 Engine mounts are the same as the SB v8 Mustang mounts. Trans crossmember may have to be modified for length issues. Shouldn't be too hard though. Quote
dezeldoc Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 Everything will fit including the fuel injection, and pretty much it is all bolt in. you can get a stand alone wire harness to fit up to the mustang for around 300 bucks. All it requires is 3 wires to connect to the mustang. I have done 4 5.0 swaps in the last year and they have been one of the easiest i have done. PS; if you decide to do it let me know and i will get you a list of suppliers to make it easy for you. Quote
90lxfive0 Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 I vote leave the T-Bird alone. Those are getting rarer and rarer. You can buy a wrecked fox with a good drivetrain and salvage a lot of parts for the swap from it. Quote
