Just finished the last little bit of bolting stuff on and now my detailing is complete.

Here are a few pictures of before and after.

I didn't like the looks of the chrome bumper on the front of the truck so I wanted it to look original..

Yup-the black bumper looks like its "spoda" be there. Nice truck. MBF

Looks very nice. I like the solid color including the bed and rear fenders. Have seen many painted black and to me, it just chops the truck in half. However, I guess that was an original color scheme. Since I don't own a truck, am no authority on such matters.

That was a factory cost saving measure. Remember these trucks were meant to work not drive around looking pretty. The 39-47 trucks like mine had all black fenders unless you paid extra. I imagine the same was true with the boxes on the 48-53s.

From the Don Bunn / Tom Brownell restoration guide book, the box cou ld be ordered painted to match the cab (red or yellow) for $5.00 and the fenders painted to match was $2.50 more.

That's cheap isn't it compared to the $53.00 that the original owners paid to have a factory radio installed in their new (now my) 40 Plymouth sedan.
