John Reddie Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 The front is a '39 Cadillac but the back appears to a suburban type of vehicle. John R Quote
Niel Hoback Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 Some sort of an airporter, maybe. Whatever it is, I want it. Quote
John Reddie Posted September 20, 2012 Author Report Posted September 20, 2012 Not many of these around for sure. Quote
John Reddie Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 This car is in the film "Cell 2455 Death Row" from 1955. That is where I captured these images from. John R Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) Looks like a woody wagon, larger than average, built for some purpose like a shuttle bus, use in a national park to transport tourists, or some such. Sometimes they were used to carry a dance band and their instruments. Here's a link to a picture of a similar woody nicely restored........http://www.flickr.com/photos/paddyspig/7021769615/in/photostream/ Here's an even longer one......... Quite a lot of woodies of all sorts on this web page...........http://pinterest.com/kittinger/woodies/ Edited September 21, 2012 by BobT-47P15 Quote
John Reddie Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 That's it Bob. I did not know that these types of vehicles were made. Thanks for the info. John R Quote
Rusty O'Toole Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Evidently a custom job, probably built for a posh hotel or dude ranch (who else would pick a Cadillac chassis?). Probably the same chassis Cadillac supplied for funeral coach, ambulance and limousine duty. Then bought by the studio's transportation or prop department as a used vehicle. Still it's an interesting example of a one off vehicle. It may still be around somewhere, movie studios kept stuff like that on hand for years, then most of it got sold off in the seventies and eighties. Could be in a private collection today. Quote
