Need help in removing rear axle pinion nut

I need to replace the rear pinion oil seal in my 49 Plymouth but I'm having trouble removing the pinion nut. After removing the cotter pin I tried heating the nut and using a 1/2 inch breaker bar and after several attempts it still wouldn't come loose. Any suggestions?

You need an impact wrench. They will typically buzz right off with one.

A 1/2" impact gun with at least 100lbs of air will take it right off if you don't have the correct yoke holding tool to use with your breaker bar. Some say the impact gun can damage the gears...I don't think you need to worry about it though.

Prick punch mark the nut, yoke and pinion so you can put all back just like it was. Tighten the nut just a tiny bit more than the prick mark-to next cotter pin slot/hole.
