40 chrysler steering box

Can anyone give me some advise where I can find a steering box for a 40 Chrysler Royal. The housing on mine has a crack when you turn the wheel it opens more.Tryed to weld, held for a while then cracked past the weld.Original steering box on the car.

I know that 1940 Dodge & Plymouth steering boxes appear to be the same, not sure if they are interchangeable with the Chryslers, tho I wouldn't be surprised...I've never heard of a mopar steering box from this era with a crack?...........any idea how this happened & where is the crack?.........andyd

I have a steering box from a 41 Plymouth. I don't know if it is the same or not.

Maybe someone here will let us know.

According to the Hollander the 1940 DeSoto and Chrysler Model C25 6 cyinder Except 7 pass sedan interchange- MoPar assembly part #854136 or Hollander #127

I have the steering box, steering shaft w/nut & the isolator thing that is bolted to the pitman arm from a 40 Royal. It's in real good shape.
