blueskies Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Just got a call from the machine shop, they fixed the bad bushing in about 15 minutes. My wife drove the rod/piston 70 miles to the shop today, dropped it off, went and did some shopping, and just picked it up on her way home. They were able to ream the rod a few thous, install a bushing that was a tad bigger than the original, and then hone it to fit the pin. Should be good as new. They think the problem is that the hole in the rod was a hair too big for the bushing that failed, as it had spun. Happy trails... or is that trials:rolleyes:... I'm going to try and get it back in the engine on Wed night if I can. Can't wait to hear it purr once again. Now back to the f'n oil pump... and king pins... Gett'n closer, Comin' at ya Don Tulsa or Bust Pete Quote

1just4don Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 You said Tulsa or bust. Does Tulsa have casino's?? If so stay out of them,,,you wont bust then!! Then you can just call it Tulsa fun!! Wish I was going,,,looked at my car for first time in 20 years last week,,,I have MORE work than I even thought. Right now it is a rear engine Dodge of 50 model,,,engines in the trunk. Window of garage where stored is broke out(didnt know that) darn kids!! anyway the window to the car was open so it didnt trap heat inside(was my thought at the time I guess) anyway it has 'some; damage from rain and snow blowing thru garage window in thru car window. guess I shoulda rolled it up while there, oh well do that next time. I found out the car was last licensed in 1972. And there was glass broken I didnt remeber from when I put it in there 20 years ago,,,but I almost forget my name so it might have been that instead!! BobT-47P15 Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 There is one casino I know of in Tulsa.....I think it's called the Cherokee Casino. Out at the east edge of town as we come in on I44 from Joplin. Fairly new, nice looking place. Have stopped there once....and made my donation as it worked out. We like to go to the casinos from time to time, but do not spend very much.....when that amount is gone, we go home. The TulsaRama event was mentioned in the June issue of Cars & Parts Magazine.....which I was looking at this morning. So, this thing is no secret. There should be all sorts of old car people, along with curious civilians, there. Quote

Only took me a few minutes to remove and replace the #3 piston when I took it out for a look-see. I've cleaned the head of gasket residue and carbon, but still need to clean the block and remove the cosmoline from the new head gasket. Ordered a new pan gasket and another head gasket for a spare, but they have not yet arrived... Then all I have to deal with is the damn oil pump problem. I'm going to rig the first pump with my dial indicator to see if the housing is concentric to the shaft, to make sure that the shaft is centered on axis with the distributor. Then swap it out again and call it good. What's left... finish king pin job, change all fluids, alignment and balance of tires, find a set of bumper bolts (missing five), and if there's any time left over, I'd like to get some of the carpet pad installed for auditory comfort, and maybe the original door panels back on the doors. Then drive the car back and forth to work for a week or so to make sure the head is going to stay put and find any other bugs in the system. If the planets align, I'll load up all my tools and spare parts, a suitcase, my son, and hit the road for our own little Zen and Art of Plymouth Maintenance road trip to Tulsa.... 1just4don said: Does Tulsa have casino's?? My wifes family all live in Vegas, and casinos are the last place we visit when there... hate 'em... nothing like sitting a smoke filled cave with no sence of time, ears ringing with a million buzzers and bells, emptying your pockets. 1just4don Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 I dont get any personal invites to those casino places either. I think at most I left a couple quarters at one once. AND thats not calling quarter sections of land,,, quarters either!! I do know of ALOT of people who they do invite back regularly. Everybody says they dont lose much. Ever notice nobody gives definite numbers to losses,,,but always have a great number to throw out when they WIN!!! When your playing with LOADED dice and you cant ever improve the odds,,,why throw your money down a rat hole?? Like pickle cards,,,they are set to pay off a certain sum, never more, never less,,,over the long haul,,no matter how long you play them you cant ever win!! Just lose more and more!! Most gambling I do is FARM!! Thats a BIGGER gamble than any casino!! But thats winding down now too!! Quote
PatS.... Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 If i go into a casino to kill time waiting for someone or something, I'll usually drop a $20 into the one arm bandit and I usually leave up. This past Saturday I had 2 hrs to kill about a block from a casino, went in put my $20 in and pulled the handle 5 times and hit $250. Cashed in and left, got coffee and smiled. Most folks think they are on a roll and end up putting it all back in...if I win I collect and run!!! (Our casinos do have the non-smoking section and on Jan 1/08 they all go completely non smoking. Bars and resaurants here went smoke-free Jan 1 /07) Quote
