Hello Everyone. My dads 48 dodge is now in my driveway and I am starting the restore as of today. Ground Up. My dad bought the truck with intention of restoring it but, due to his age, just hasn't. I got tired of seeing it rot away in his driveway, talked to mom, came up with a decent budget, lurked on this site for a while reading and have now pulled the trigger. Towed the truck over today and had my body and paint guy come over. Made a white board of what has to be done and a rough schedule.

Parts already ordered:

Wire Harness from RiWire

Leaf Springs

Bed Kit

Things I am currently looking for:

running boards

So here is the rough plan:

Disassemble and have body and bed to shop next week or week after

Removed engine from frame and drive train

Send frame to get blasted and coated

then start reassembly and do lots of cursing.

I will be posting lots on here, this is my first Mopar and I am sure I will have LOTS of questions.

here she is:

welcome, looks like a real solid project!

are you looking for better running boards or ones to use as patches?

better looking, these are actually pretty solid however the brackets on the bottom look like there were "JB" welded on. its not pretty :(

cut them off, make new ones and weld properly.

**update**

got a lot more done this week disassembling and sourcing parts then I expected. Got the bed off, front clip off, found some rot, I knew I would. Tonight I got the cap stripped and the dolly made. tomorrow the all the body heads off to the media blaster and then to the body shop to get beautified.

Things I need to find and hope you all can help:

need rear quarter glass both sides

still can't find running boards :(

Also, has anyone use steele rubber? seems like a legit company to get all new seals.

Couple of other questions. the frame is going to get blasted and he is trying to talk me into powder coating it. I planned on powered coating almost everything else but not the frame, what is you opinions?

Here is some updates pics, nothing you haven't seen before.

When I had my frame blasted, the guy used a Rustoleum paint with a plastic mixed in.

Corner glass:

Body is off to body shop. A ton of parts and the frame are off to the powder coater today or tomorrow. Chrome shop wants me to wait a week before dropping anything off. ton of parts are inbound. Things are moving forward, that is all that matters :)
