plymouthcranbrook
I have a 52 Plymouth and need to locate 6 mounting lugs(?) that go into the holes in the fender where the Cranbrook chrome logo attaches. Can someone post a picture of these parts, tell me their correct name and if possible let me know of a source to find them at. Thanks much in advance. Plymouthy Adams
these are in the speciality drawer at the hardware stor/loes..look like a rectangular speed nut put designed to press down over the stud and the little cleats of the clip lock to the post...for that size..about 35 cents a pop.. plymouthcranbrook
I will take a look. Thanks
54Illinois
My body shop guy called them a "barrel head clip"? Cause you have to mount the Cranbrook script BEFORE the fender is mounted...correct?
Plymouthy Adams
while barrel head clips are for blind holes....they did become the method of choice until later years...I have 6 front fenders here for 51/52 Plymouth..the holes are just barely adequate for the studs to push through..there is no room for a barrel clip to insert in the hole as the hole is way small... plymouthcranbrook
I did push one of the nameplates into the holes to check for fit and it was not easy to pull out but it seems that something should be there to keep them from falling out over time
Plymouthy Adams
if your fender is still on the car..you will have to drop the inner fender for access to fasten the retainers in place securely...however..if you were to drill for proper barrel clip insertion based on teh diameter of the stud..you may be able to use these..usually the pins are not tapered for using barrel clips..inspect these closely..you can do the barrel inserts without any need to pull inner fender..your call..orignal, upgrade to blind barrel clip, two side tape, thread and nut..choose an option to your liking and go with it... I like your idea, sounds like a plan. I will go see what the Ace has in stock. Thanks to all(I had the inner fenders off once, don't want to do that again)
54Illinois
I like the barrel clip idea myself. As my 54 can be painted, then the script can go on.
