JerseyHarold Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 Good move. There is a scrap metal place in town and lately we've been bringing our metal there. We don't do as well as you, but it still buys a sandwich or two. Quote
dezeldoc Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 Nice, After the move to the new house i have about 2 tons waiting to go down to the scrapper. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) I did the same thing. I had to clean the shed in the back yard so I got a friend to split the profit with me. I had so much stuff that I had stock piled That we made a very large sum. I also had alot of batteries and some radiators which are taken to a different spot. I did not know metal could be so profitable. I have another load down the country so I think we will do this once more, I found about 3 sets of exhaust manifolds from different motors. I did not let him take those they are for a big block mopar. Edited August 8, 2012 by Rodney Bullock Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 Now you know why all those "collectible" cars get sent to the crusher.... Quote
Robert Horne Posted August 8, 2012 Report Posted August 8, 2012 Now you know why all those "collectible" cars get sent to the crusher.... I have a 5900 lb van that I will get rid of soon. I believe I can get more at scrap price than trying to sell it. Quote

I believe I can get more at scrap price than trying to sell it. Exactly the point. We wonder why all those great cars, so desirable to us, were sent to the junkyard or war scrap drives long ago. The people who scrapped them believed, probably correctly, that they could get more at scrap price than trying to sell it. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted August 9, 2012 Report Posted August 9, 2012 In my neighborhood, if you put anything metal out with the trash it will be gone long before the garbage truck comes. When we have 'bulk night' once a year there are dozens of roving scrap pickers all over the place. Quote
claybill Posted August 9, 2012 Author Report Posted August 9, 2012 scrap now is $205.00 a ton. here they take everything airconditioners, generators, old motors, and rusty bumpers old frames..... Quote
