pflaming Posted July 13, 2012 Report Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) Looked at a 47 Chevy business coupe yesterday just out of curiosity. It's rust free, no dents, all there including all hood, truck, side emblems, hood ornament, drive train, dash. The shelf was in the truck and all the fixings, spare, hubcaps, jack. If it had windows I might have bought it. The windows must have been removed, no broken glass. It was 105 in the shade so we did not look too long. In the short time we looked at it he came down $2,000 w/o any encouragement. The rear springs were still wrapped. The grill was dentless and the bumpers were shining. Just writing this gets me excited, but got to finish the truck first, (if it was a mopar, would have picked it for sure). I may go back and see if the engine is free,if so, I may low ball him a number and see if he bites. Edited July 13, 2012 by pflaming Quote
buds truck Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 nice looking vehicles, throw the low ball and see if he swings...... Quote
pflaming Posted July 14, 2012 Author Report Posted July 14, 2012 Bud, I took another look across the fence. I think if one put some work into the finish, there is enough paint under the surface rust to show a natural blue color car. It is definitely a bus coupe, for the gas tank cap is on the passenger side of the car about 30" up the panel between the fender and the door. Sure wish I had my camera. Anyway, what is a low ball number ? Attached are pictures of cars that do NOT look as good as the one I'm watching. Quote
buds truck Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 he dropped 2k or dropped to 2k?? What is he asking for it?? Quote
Frank Elder Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 Why not a p-15 or a d-24, there out there and cheaper than any chevy or ford.......... Quote
pflaming Posted July 14, 2012 Author Report Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) I wasn't looking, just saw this and was curious. I see rediculous prices on cars like this. I know, listing price is not selling price, but what I am seeing is miles away from what he wants. The issue with me is the glass. If the drive train is original, then for me it's a clean up job, like on the truck. The second time around will go much faster. Now i have some experience, more tools, etc., A car's use is so different from a truck, so to fix it for my future is out, and that means work for money, a far different motivation. A business coupe is a two seater, can't take the wife and grandkids along, so it is an anti social vehical. I may pass on this that it is still sitting there may be a red flag in itself. ps. the old car dealer near Portland, ME has a Dodge two seater convertible. Nice car, but big money. Left my camera in Maine, its on its way, will post a pic. Edited July 14, 2012 by pflaming Quote
