Bradley S. Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Brought my truck from the farm in western Illinois to my house in northeastern Illinois. Now I will certainly be in divorce court by fall. Check out the rig. Big Dodge pulling a big Dodge. I wonder which one weighs more. The Dodge 2500 weighs 7000 lbs. I still have not weighed the B1F. someone on the forum estimated it at around 6800 lbs. And that 2500 isn't red by accident! I was told it is best to tow vehicles in neutral to avoid shock loads on the transmission gear teeth. Makes sense. Ever heard that? Spent Sunday fixing and detailing. Second picture is in my driveway. Fixing the leak in the hoist hydraulic pump input shaft just got a higher priority! I drove it around town and got a bunch of thumbs up. I need to call the mayors office and see if I can get it in the July 4th parade. Quote

Merle Coggins Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 Awesome Brad. Did that guy come out of the bar and want to make a trade again? That looks like the same spot where my truck sat one day, although yours takes up a little more space. Now that you got it home I may have to come back down there so we can go cruisin'. Maybe I can swing through Twin Lakes on my way down and get Tim (beyert99) to tag along so we can treat Fox Lake with a trio of Pilot-House trucks. Merle Quote
Bradley S. Posted June 5, 2012 Author Report Posted June 5, 2012 The only difference is my truck leaked hydraulic oil on the driveway, your truck did not. I like that idea of having a mini rally in Fox Lake! Let's plan something. Naturally, followed by a barley pop or two and large chunk of grilled beef. More to follow on this scheme........ Quote
Todd B Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 looks awesome all cleaned up. You should get many thumbs up. Todd B Quote
Stumpy(NH) Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 Wow! Looks great in Red! My B1FA with dump body weighs in at 7500 lbs. I like the platform dump. May change mine down the road. Thanks for the pictures! Quote
Dan Babb Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Nice looking truck. What size engine did they put in those big trucks? Quote
NobbyofTexas Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 any photos of the interior? Beautiful old treasure... Gary Miami Texas Quote
Bradley S. Posted June 7, 2012 Author Report Posted June 7, 2012 Dan - the engine is a 236 cid flat head 6, 89-1/2 hp @ 3200 rpm. Gary - I did take some pictures of the interior but there did not turn out well. I will take some more this weekend and post. Quote
Bradley S. Posted July 28, 2012 Author Report Posted July 28, 2012 Check out my new custom exhaust! Much better sound than the old glass pack that somebody clamped on it. I had it all replaced from the exhaust manifold back. Now I want to build some short racks for the flat bed. I am thinking a couple 2 x 6s with about a 2 inch gap between them, like this. What do ya'll think? Brad Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Hey Brad, is your truck still at home, and did you get the hydraulic leak fixed? Tim Beyer and I were just talking about that today. I was down in Twin Lakes helping him tinker with his truck, working out a few bugs. It should be road worthy soon. Merle Quote
Bradley S. Posted July 29, 2012 Author Report Posted July 29, 2012 Merle; Yes it is here for good! Quote
Bradley S. Posted July 29, 2012 Author Report Posted July 29, 2012 Oh and I plan to take the hydraulic pump apart soon and see if I can find a nes seal. Quote
