Bingster Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 Anyone buy one of those Mopar Accessory Catalog reprints on ebay? I just received mine and while it is nice to have these things listed and documented, the photocopy reproduction wasn't too good. Some of the items I could barely make out, being only an outline and washed out. For twenty bucks I expected better. Quote
fatFreddie Posted May 27, 2012 Report Posted May 27, 2012 I bought one too from a seller id SEAPLYM...it was complete junk. Quote
Roadkingcoupe Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 Why not contact the vendor directly? He sells exclusively old Mopar parts and has been known to be a good person to deal with. Quote
Bingster Posted May 28, 2012 Author Report Posted May 28, 2012 You know, he does have a good reputation it seems. I think this is a case of a person who had a good idea but didn't execute it well. I've done a lot with PR and copying and I know it could have been done better. But I don't want to mess up his ebay rating cause I do think this booklet is probably the best he could do. And, because I have bought and probably will buy more parts from him and it'sot worth messing up my standing over a twenty buck booklet. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 Neil lists a daytime in Seattle phone number in his ebay store ad......why not give him a call, which will not go thru ebay. He is usually a nice guy. He probably had someone make copies of those booklets.....may not have checked each one personally before sending. "Any questions on this item? call: 206-285-6534, days in Seattle -" Quote
michael.warshaw Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 its almost impossible to find the accesroy catalog for 40-48 whether the copies are good or bad, its still a cool thing to have i bought one from him and saw some really cool things. $20 wont even get you 5 gallons of gas! Quote
Bingster Posted May 28, 2012 Author Report Posted May 28, 2012 Yeah, okay. You have a good point. But by the same token, if you're going to do something like that booklet, give the project to somebody who knows how best to do it. All I'm saying is that it could have been done better for maybe not too much extra money or none at all. Machine settings, etc. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 If there is no longer any copyright on the material, and you know how to do it, have at it. Quote
bobostski Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 I went to the P15-D24 web site and printed the one that was down loaded there. It printed quit clear and was free. Go to Return to P15-D24 at the top of this page. It is in the section called Downloads. With a little work it could be printed to make a book. I put mine in plastic sleeves. Quote

WOW...SEAPLYM feedback is being affected by his action of "BANNED FROM THE OPC" when you leave a negative or neutral feedback on ebay. I do not believe that was the intentions of the feedback system...but Riddle seems to have manipulated that as I have not seen any negatives left for him since he started that. I also see Michael.Warsaw has learned that lesson too as he is also giving the same response to negative/neutral feedback..u are now banned from vap!... and his negatives have fallen off too...I guess intimidation is the way to go if you are selling junk. Bingster Posted May 28, 2012 Author Report Posted May 28, 2012 I'm not sure I fully understand that last post. What is the OPC and VAP? Can you clearify or rephrase your statement? Quote

Roadkingcoupe Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 I'm not sure I fully understand that last post. What is the OPC and VAP? Can you clearify or rephrase your statement? Changes made to eBay to protect the buyers has swung too far leaving sellers vulnerable to buyers using the feedback system as a real or perceived threat over sellers. In order to receive discounts, promotions and higher visibility to buyers sellers are trying to keep a level of service that can be tainted by one or two unrealistic buyers. In Seaplym's case there are OVER 8000 transactions and no negatives. This does not happen by fluke. He must be doing something right! Since sellers can ONLY leave positive feedback for a buyer....the only logical thing left to do is to BAN the same buyers from purchasing again after leaving neutral or poor performance on the seller 5 STAR rating system. Personally I would not pay for a photocopy either. However if it states a photocopy is for sale and you receive it and give a negative or neutral feedback.......that is lame on the part of the buyer. JBNeal Posted May 28, 2012 Report Posted May 28, 2012 I reckon eBay has made some changes to their feedback system recently as I sold a few hundred odds & ends late last year and sure enough had to deal with about a dozen crackpots. I was gigged with negative feedback from a couple of guys who wanted next day delivery 2000 miles away before Thanksgiving but they did not want to pay for the extra shipping cost, so their feedback to me was "slow shipping, non-responsive to emails" BS. By late December, dealing on a few other transactions, the buyers dragged their feet on payment, a couple never paid nor responded to emails, and eBay did not allow me the option to post any negative or neutral feedback for those deadbeats. Since I'm not an everyday on-line merchant, I just put a period at the end of those ordeals after eBay refunded my listing fees. To openly "ban" buyers (also blocking them from doing business) from Old Plymouth Cafe or Vintage Auto Parts or whoever might be their only recourse. My guess is that eBay, after all these years of buyers & sellers flaming each other via the feedback system, has opted to make feedback flame-retardant, where only "positive" feedback can be posted, forcing those with negative feedback about a transaction to deal with returns/refunds, etc. behind the scenes. Bingster Posted May 28, 2012 Author Report Posted May 28, 2012 Okay, that's why I don't want to leave Neil negative feedback over a photocopy booklet. He sells mainly parts as far as I know and it does seem pansy-*** to bring his rating down over this booklet. Now, if it were a part that was pitted and not what was advertised then that's another story. And you're right. I knew it was a photocopy and you take a chance. And yes, it is better than nothing to go by. I can now see on ebay what is OEM and what is aftermarket. And there are numbers. Maybe I expected too much. My wife says I do!! Quote
