NiftyFifty Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Well...old as in last year...new as in this year I did some changes to the truck, had some paint issues last year so I re-did the paint again..but I'm honestly not happy with it. Love my new powder coated rims!! All orange is last year FYI Quote
Dave72dt Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 What exactly don't you like about it? Maybe just needs a little detailing. How about adding the DODGE on the side of the hood panels in orange instead of the stainless or some orange pinstriping? Quote
NiftyFifty Posted May 17, 2012 Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 Sorry I guess I should clarify... I used enamel paint and I thinned it this time a but more to get a smoother and more gloss finish, but it didn't cover well, and had some other imperfections.... Thats the dislike The colour scheme I like, and I'm not a fan of pin striping at all. Tried to find the dodge side emblems but couldnt find used and wasn't paying $150 to buy a new set right now Quote
Dave72dt Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Was it supposed to be bright and shiny? Satin? Should be able to sand out the imperfections and respray. Use a regular gloss black and add a flattening agent to it or one of those prepackaged flat or satins if thats what you're looking for. Or for bright and shiny, spray a clear over it. Quote

I think I'm going to just try and enjoy it for 2 or 3 years with some rose couloured glasses and when I have some play money laying around I will just have the truck done professionaly. I haven't really done any of the body woork thats needed so it's full of dings and imperfections, but I know I'm no body man and I don't want to make it worse or make it look like I thought I knew what I was doing. I put 6 coats on the truck and 5 coats on the hood/grill and their still not what I would call great..so it's just time to leave it alone before I end up eating my gun....paint gun that is! LMAO Quote
NiftyFifty Posted May 17, 2012 Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 It was bent and twisted, we tried straightening last year but it got the bolt holes out of whack. I have 2 others but they are all damaged in some way Quote
55 Fargo Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 I like the look there fellow Manitoban, the primer surfacer, must be super slick, with enamel, 400 wet/dry should block nuice prior to paint. I have shot enamel, someitmes got runs/sags, but smooth and shiny like glass. What enamel did you use? If your not using automotive Acrylic enamel or urethane or BC/CC, then you could try this stuff. MC 200 sold and marketed at Micron Coatings/International Paint, in Winnipeg 1-204-633-0022. That colour may run about $50.00 per gallon, add wet look hardener, reduce with meddium speed enamel reducer, and shoot on 2 coats. Next time, block what you have, then maybe shooot ona 2 k urethane sealer, then go over, with topcoat. Hey it looks good to me..... Quote
