Gents,

A few months ago I suggested some of us living in the Front Range of the Rockies join in with the opening ceremonies of Trail Ridge Road around Memorial Day. The response was overwhelming with the potential of more than five dozen WPC's putting up to the top, so I got on the phone. I first contacted the Estes Park Museum because in order to belong to the EP Valley Antique Automobile Society (which is what stages the ride) you must first belong to the museum. I know; I did it once.

I told the intern who answered the phone that there may be a bunch of us wanting to make the drive and asked her who I should contact to arrange the logistics of the parade. Too many big words all in a row, I never heard back from her so I've tried twice since then with the same results and I fear it's my fault.

I published a social satire of small town life and tourist town politics titled, "one Hot winter in Estes" and it sold 1000's of copies. Cool, I made a few bucks but there was never a middle ground for intensity of the enjoyment my readers obtained from my words of wisdom. Either you loved it or hated it (read: whether you are a business owner or a grunt in a one-industry town) but for all it's popularity I made some folks in that red-neck, white-bread, green-tooth, truck-driving, sister-loving, ... oh, never mind.

I think somebody else ought to get this ball rolling because for my efforts they aren't going to allow it to be me.

That's the major local paper and they have links to anything going on in town. I refer to the rag as the "EP Bi-Weekly Bigot", and I'm certain they feel similarly about me, and since communication within Estes isn't the greatest I feel anybody else approaching them with the same question might get a straight answer. I'll horse you through it.

Randy;

I found your book at Amazon.com and just ordered a copy for a pair of nickles plus freight. Guess I will see what it is all about. Thanks for posting the book name etc.
