Andydodge
If you have or intend to run disc brakes on your mopar and are using the ORIGINAL Mopar hub, ie, the hub that your drum brakes used then replace the grease with the correct High Temperature Bearing Grease made for Disc Brakes.........I speak from experience, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between the original bearing grease used in drum brake cars and that which is specified for those cars using disc brakes.........the original mopar hub bearings and seals are ok(assuming that they are in general fine condition anyway), just clean out the hub and repack with HTB grease.........its much easier then trying to remove a welded on, collapsed bearing from the stub axle on the side of the road..........lol.............andyd

Young Ed
Interesting I've never heard of this. I run the same grease in my old vehicles as I do in my 94 dakota. Must have gotten it right the dakota has probably 150K miles on it using that grease.
randroid
Gents, The major difference between regular grease and disk brake grease is its ability to dissipate heat. The same goes for engine oil; "racing" oil will dissipate heat more rapidly. Those specialised products cost more because the manufacturers can charge more but you won't go wrong using them vs. the "normal" products. -Randy
Andydodge
Randy..and Dave.......no need for the assistance, this was 35yrs ago........lol..........but as you mention Randy......the heat factor is why I mentioned it as there appears to be a few guys contemplating the swap, which is fine by me, but by retaining the original hub they maybe inviting some problems if the grease issue wasn't brought up..........the sight of the grease dust cap spinning off into the bush in a slow, circular motion trailing smoke as it did still remains fresh in my memory...............lol............coupled with the smell as I **** my pants trying to slow down from 70mph..........lol...........ah!.....memories.........lol.................andyd
