Desotodav Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Boy this fella sure set the standards bar high during the restoration of his 47 Windsor in New Zealand. What a thing of beauty (even for a truck guy like me)!!! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/chrysler/windsor/auction-454261257.htm . Desotodav Quote
Ed Griffin Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 That's a really nice looking car. I wonder how many of those are in New Zealand? Years back I sold a set of the rocker moulding trim to a fella there. Picked them off a Chrysler in Alabama. Shipped them in a capped pvc pipe. Makes ya wonder.....anyhow, great car. Quote

55 Fargo Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Great looking beautiful car, but $48 grand, not sure about that. Would not sell for that much in North America, at least I don't think it would.... Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 This car is a rare export model. Thats why it's worth the asking price. It's a New Zealand Winsor that will not depreciate! :D:D:D:D:D Quote

Andydodge Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 That export thing is what I was told about my 1948 Windsor here in Oz, but I haven't heard whether there is any truth to it, butthere is definate documented evidence that 10 or 12 Windsors were imported in 1941/42 for use as Oz Commnwealth Govt vehicles, theres at least one still around restored in a museum...........the weird thing re my Windsor was that it had the standard pair of tailights in the stock position plus another one bolted beside the standard ones on each side and a spare pair in the trunk with some extra chrome moldings........so there had to have been at least another 2 cars in Oz I assumed....lol. It was the only 46/48 Chrysler I had seen in Oz up till about 20yrs ago, it was in quite nice condition actually, couple of rust spots, but not serious, it had the Highlander Plaid upholstery, fluid drive, all the instruments worked including the clock, it was overall a nice car. I bought it for $75.00, had it for 1bout 18mths and sold it for about $200.00 I think....this was around 1975.........and drove it 15miles to its new owner, very early one sunday morning to avoid the cops as while it had rego plates it had gone out of rego about 2-3yrs........lol........the things you do when you are young & silly.........now am just silly............andyd Quote
