Got the tunnel tacked into place cut the sheet metal from the tailgate off the 96 dakota. but just glad to be back and doing something toward an end state. Still have lots to do to fill in the gaps on firewall and floorboards, slow and steady.

If I recall this is a Dakota frame swap. Fabbing a new tunnel caused me the most head - scratching when I redid the floor to accomodate a 727 trans. A little trimming of the piece you cut from the seat base and welded back in will make it look like the factory did it...sort of. Nice work.

This has me scratching my head, I changed my manual 3 speed on the back of the 327 to a 700R automatic trans. I changed the mounts and the drive shaft lenght. Mounted the cab but I have not put the floor pieces in yet. I am now wondering if the floor board pieces will need modifiing.

Just one more thing to add to the TO-DO list.

Lay a straight edge across the toe board edges, side to side and across the trans cover opening. If it won't lay flat from top to bottom and front to back, you have some work to do

Now you got me worried. Are you talking about the lip on the tunnel under the seat? I am definately a novice at this and love all the help I can get. The toeboard is the piece that the tunnel runs through now right?

Toeboard is the piece that runs at an angle from the firewall to the floor board. My response shoud have been directed specifically to Todd B. and his SBC swap. Sorry for worrying you. Yours should clear fine but if you can, give it a trial fit before filling anymore in.

Bud I consistantly check your old threads for how to. And test fit is coming this weekend. should be good though fit good with the tunnel not trimmed and put in yet so am crossing my fingers.;)

Is the Force, holding that wire up?...lol

I didn't have to modify my floor, At least not there, Only the first panel down from the firewall.

I'm using stock frame and a Big block/727 combo.

I like the donar metal. I used part of a "autopar" tire sign for my firewall mods.
